Portrait Room

Audio transcription

You have just entered the owners' residence on the first floor, also called the noble floor. Once you pass the entrance door, on the left, there is the Portrait Room.

This space possibly served as a waiting room for visitors, before passing them to the Study. The name of the room refers to the set of portraits of some family members.

On the right, in an oval painting, you can see a well-dressed woman reading a small book. The name on the letter reveals that it is Maria Sadurní. It is the work of Manuel Tramulles, who painted it between 1781 and 1782.

The large painting on the left shows Arnaldo de Mercader and Paolina Pozzali, in front of a coastal landscape, in their wedding attire. Mateo Balasch painted it in 1931.
